CradlePoint Timeline

2004

In 2004, Pat Sewall formed CradlePoint, Inc., a company that would develop and manufacture products based on his view of emerging cellular and wireless markets.  Pat’s experience in the wireless and cellular industries gave him key insight as to what consumers and businesses would require in order to work and play in the advancing world of mobile broadband.  As 3G networks began being rapidly deployed and coverage became more and more pervasive, customer demands for products that would allow them to access the Internet, corporate networks, email, etc., at home, on the road and in the office, increased.

2005

Over the next 18 months, Pat assembled a team of industry veterans that helped to shape the vision and product roadmap for the company. Co-founders Gary Oliverio and Ryan Adamson joined Pat in 2005 and 2006 respectively. This strategic management team further developed the product line, established manufacturing relationships, developed sales channels and began the company’s first marketing efforts.

2007

Early in 2007, CradlePoint, Inc. acquired Mobility Electronics’ docking cradle business helping to establish CradlePoint as a leader in mobile computing and connectivity. Shortly thereafter, CradlePoint hit its first $1,000,000 in sales.

Later that year, CradlePoint shipped the world’s first mobile broadband router, the CTR350 Mobile Broadband Router, created and branded WiPipe™ technology and shipped the world’s first battery-operated, portable router, the PHS300 Personal WiFi Hotspot.

2008

2008 saw many milestones for the young company.
The introduction of the MBR1000 Mobile Broadband Router, a business-class router with 3G failover.
The CTR500 Mobile Broadband Router with ExpressCard and USB modem ports, a full-featured router for 3G broadband and yet still fits in a shirt pocket for true portability.
The MBR800 Mobile Broadband Router designed specifically for kiosk-type applications.
The CBA250 Cellular Broadband Adapter allowing any network to add 3G redundancy for true failover capability or direct connect, both with IP-Pass through.

Also in 2008, CTIA awarded CradlePoint with the Emerging Technologies Award for the PHS300 Personal WiFi Hotspot. Verizon Wireless certified two CradlePoint products through their Open Development Initiative, the PHS300 and the CTR500, helping drive the largest single mobile data application sale to date in the 3G space with Verizon Wireless and leading consumer insurance agency.
